About
Fastmates is a mobile app for people who practice intermittent fasting. Besides tracking progress, it helps users find like-minded people, support each other and turn a personal goal into a shared experience.
Challenge
Existing fasting trackers focus purely on the numbers — timers, streaks, meal windows — and leave the social side of the habit unaddressed, even though accountability and connection are some of the biggest reasons people stick with, or give up on, a fasting routine.

Solution
We combined a clear, easy-to-use fasting tracker with lightweight social features that let users connect with new "fasting mates" during their journey. Playful status creatures — a hungry crocodile, an energetic monkey — let people signal how they're feeling at a glance, and the Fastmates radar helps users find and message nearby mates for support, turning a solo habit into a shared one, all wrapped in a warm, illustrated visual identity.

Mobile app design process
We started with interactive prototypes to test the key user flows before the final UI. Then we designed a short onboarding that introduces the features and sets personal fasting parameters in a few steps. Playful status characters, from a hungry crocodile to an energetic monkey, add gamification to the habit. The result is an iOS and Android app design that combines fasting tracking with social features and keeps users motivated.
