About
Sirius is the largest animal shelter in Ukraine, rescuing, sterilizing, and finding permanent homes for stray dogs and cats since 2000. The shelter came to us for a complete redesign of their website – one that would match the scale of their mission and, most importantly, actively drive animal adoptions.

Challenge
Stray animal welfare is an emotionally heavy topic, and the shelter's old website leaned into that heaviness — it was hard to navigate, didn't showcase adoptable animals in a compelling way, and gave visitors little reason to return, browse, or donate. Our challenge was to flip that emotional register: create a "wow", zestful design that makes browsing homeless animals' profiles feel hopeful and fun rather than sad, without losing the seriousness of the cause. At the same time, the site had to perform – clearly presenting hundreds of adoptable animals, simplifying the adoption process, and converting casual visitors into adopters and donors.
Solution
We rebuilt the experience end to end. Playful hand-drawn illustrations, a bold color palette, and character-driven visuals gave Sirius a warm, energetic identity that stands out from typical shelter websites. We designed a swipeable, Tinder-style "Find a Friend" adoption flow that lets visitors browse animal profiles quickly and intuitively, along with a streamlined one-click donation module with preset amounts to remove friction from giving. The entire site was built fully responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile. The results speak for themselves: 85% of all adoption requests now come directly through the website, and the shelter saw a 35% increase in adoption rate compared to the old site.
Development and social videos
Our team developed the nonprofit website frontend, together with a backend development partner who built the Laravel backend for animal profiles, adoption requests and donations. We also added signature "eyes in love" animations and micro-animations on the donation pages, and created social media videos that promoted the new site and encouraged people to adopt or donate.
